Session Handoff — Why Dachshunds shorts production + long-form music/logo fix

Where it started

Session opened with /prime, then a pasted handoff about Why Dachshunds short-form scripts. User drove two threads: (1) creating forward batches of ~45s shorts in Agent Opus, and (2) after inspecting long-form videos, discovering the 250 long-form videos were missing the music and logo they were recorded as having — which became the session's main work: diagnose and fix all 260.

Decisions locked + what shipped

• Long-form fix: 260/260 videos re-encoded with music + MARLEY & MIA badge, 0 failures. Root cause: the 2026-06-27 run re-encoded every video but silently applied neither effect (verified via frame + spectrogram). Rebuilt each from its clean voice master in one pass. Verified visually on Batches 1, 2, 6.
• New script: c:\Users\srver\AIOS-Workspace\aios-starter-kit\scripts\dachshund\fix_music_logo.py — combined music+logo, idempotent, resumable via ledger, reads only from _originals-no-music\ masters.
• Music = D:\Videos\000-YT Why Dachshunds\Audio Files-background\coffee time.wav (10% vol, 5s fade). Logo = D:\Videos\000-YT Why Dachshunds\Logo\Why Dachshunds.png (the MARLEY & MIA badge, bottom-left, 200px, pad 30).
• Shorts maker bug fixed: make_shorts_with_actors.py now auto-appends every created session to shorts_version_ledger.json (previously only wrote _shorts_last_run.json, so the sorter couldn't route new videos — they'd have misfiled to the badger folder).
• Shorts sorter improved: download_and_sort_shorts.py now renames downloaded files to correct NNN_title_sessionid.mp4 (Agent Opus synonym-retitles are unreliable) and auto-derives its stop-count from the ledger.
• Shorts created this session (create-only, awaiting user approval in Agent Opus UI): #40–68 (28 badger remakes), #69–88, #89–113, #114–133, #134–139. All ledger-recorded.
• Shorts filed to D:\Videos\000-YT Why Dachshunds\SHORTS\: all of #40–133 except #49 (never rendered — likely a stuck/failed AO render).

Verification — how to confirm things still work

• Long-form music+logo, any batch file: copy to a simple path first (special chars break Git Bash→ffmpeg), then ffmpeg -ss 4 -i <copy> -frames:v 1 -vf "crop=400:400:0:ih-400" corner.png (badge visible) and ffmpeg -i <copy> -lavfi showspectrumpic corner_spec.png (gaps filled with music). Do NOT trust astats noise-floor alone — it is content-dependent and gave a false negative on #100.
• Shorts download/file: python scripts\dachshund\download_and_sort_shorts.py — idempotent; files rendered shorts into SHORTS\Batch N, drops non-dachshund strays.
• Long-form fix re-run: python scripts\dachshund\fix_music_logo.py — skips done via ledger.

Deferred + open questions

• Deferred: shorts #140–250 not yet created (111 remaining) — next make_shorts_with_actors.py --numbers ... batch.
• Deferred: #134–139 (and any un-rendered earlier shorts) not yet downloaded — run download_and_sort_shorts.py after user approves renders in AO UI.
• Deferred: short #49 never rendered (~24h stuck) — user should check it in the AO UI or remake with --numbers 49.
• Deferred: stale _pre-logo\ backup folders in each long-form batch now hold the old broken versions — offered to delete for disk reclaim, user has not decided. _originals-no-music\ are the real masters; keep those.
• Deferred: shorts still need their own music/logo finishing pass (separate format/CTA from long-form) — not started.
• Open: pending skill drop — _INBOX-DROP-FILES-HERE\new skills to add\newsletter-forge.skill is unprocessed (not touched this session).
